2005 Green China and Modern Youth Summer Camp, namely the 9^th China College Students Environment Protection Training Camp launches in Beijing, 25^th, August. There are more than 200 students from over 100 universities attending the summer camp. Most of campers are the charges from environment protection units NGO, student societies and environment protection volunteers. The charges from USTC Student Nature Protection Association Lu Yu, Xu Yanlong with other two students are in this three-day summer camp. Lu Yu and Xu Yanlong are elected as volunteer supervisors of National Friendly to Environment Project.

 

Summer camp begins with report titled Green China and Modern Youths' Responsibilities given by deputy director of State Environmental Protection Administration Pan Yue. Officer from UN Environment Programmer, Shao Xuemin; inspector of State Environmental Protection Administration, Mou Guangfeng; vice-director of Politics Institute, under Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Fang Ning; Prof. Yang Fan from Commercial College of China University of Politics and Law; well-known environmental author Xu Gang; renown director Lu Chuan; CCTV director Wang Xianping separately provide illuminating lectures on environment protection policies, environment developing strategy and nation security, environmental literatures creating, environment protection and other environment-concerning topics.

 

Besides the lectures, summer camp develops variable activities, such as questionnaires, group discussions, youths' achievements exhibition, small sum money-supportive projects bid and theme lectures. USTC Lu Yu and Xu Yanlong give the theme lectures on idea of establishing China Youths Forum and environment protection transmitting tools, which trigger the wide discussions among the audience.

The summer camp hosted by China Environmental Culture Promotion Council, aims at training China college students environment protection student society to foster environmental culture and develop society construction abilities, as to make themselves devote to the environment protection career and play more activating role in healthy and stead improving China environment protection.
