Under the invitation of researcher Tan Tieniu, who stands the head of CAS Automation Institution and chairman of USTC Automation Department, 12 academics from USTC attend the 2005 CAS Automation Institution Strategy Seminar holding in Beijing. It is the first time that academics from USTC Automation Department have attended the seminar on long-term strategic planning of Automation Institution.

 

At the meeting, the representatives for USTC Automation Department attentively hear a series of enlightening reports, including “Raise Original Creative Forces, Speed Industrial Structure Adjustment” by deputy director-general Chang Qing of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Industrial Development; “Reviews on High-tech Research under CAS” by CAS Bureau of High-tech director Gui Wenzhuan: “Several Thoughts on CAS Third-session Innovation Project” by CAS under-secretary general Cao Xiaoye and “On Current World Science and Technology Development Trends and China’s Accordance Strategy” by head of Automation Institution, Tan Tieniu. Executive chairman of USTC Automation Department, Prof. Xi Hongsheng also introduces the research developed in the department to the colleagues at the meeting. Afterwards, participants form USTC involve in the warm group discussion on Automation Institution’s strategic developments.

 

The three-day seminar flies away. USTC participants express the tour harvests much, for it not only widens the eye-scope but also enriches the thoughts.
