Vice-President HOU Jianguo Won OCPA Achievement in Asia Award
Prof. Cheuk-Yiu Ng from the Department of Chemistry of the University of California at Davis, also Chair of the Awarding Committee of the Overseas Chinese Physics Association (OCPA), wrote to Prof. ZHU Qingshi, President of USTC, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), expressing his thankfulness for President Zhu's help in serving on the 2001-2002 Award Panel of OCPA. He also informed President ZHU that on the basis of the recommendation of the OCPA Award Panel, Prof. HOU Jianguo, Vice-President of USTC and Prof. Xue Ming Yang from the Institute of Atomic and Molecular Science of Taiwan are chosen as co-winners of the 2001-2002 Achievement in Asia Award. The 2001-2002 Outstanding Young Researcher Award goes to Prof. Zhen Yao from the University of Texas at Austin.
