Recently, the results of 2006 US College Students Mathematic Modeling Contest have been published. Eight teams from USTC take the first class in this contest, including three first prizes and two second prizes. It is the first time that USTC has got such good results since USTC entering the contest.
This contest is in progress from 3rd to 7th, February. There are 972 teams from 11 countries and areas, such as America, Canada, German, and China. The members of USTC teams are from Talent Class, Sciences School, Information School and so on. The chief coach of eight teams is Prof. Yang Zhouwang from Math Department.
US College Students Mathematic Modeling Contest begins from 1985, an international mathematical contest organized by American Mathematical Society and American Industry and Applied Mathematics. USTC participated in this contest since 1991 and won the top prize in 1996, the contest results always being in the first class among the universities of China. |
