| USTC Delegation Successful at the 8th Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Fair |
Ratified by the State Council, the 8th Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Fair took place and was convened by 16 ministries and commissions of the State Council. The fair was headed by the Ministry of Science and Technology and Shanxi Provincial Government in Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Pilot Area from Nov. 5th to 9th, 2001. Admissions to the fair topped 3,000,000. The Yangling Agricultural High-Tech Fair now ranks with the other three scientific fairs, namely, Beijing Scientific Week, Shenzhen High-Tech Fair and Shanghai Industry Fair, as one of the top four scientific fairs in China.
At the fair, USTC displayed more than 200 latest scientific achievements which covered a wide range of research fields including electronics, chemistry, information, biology, medical instrument, new materials, and new energy sources. The achievements presented at the fair reflected comprehensively the research fruits of the USTC 211 Project, the State 863 Project, the CAS Innovation Project and USTC construction work, which attracted profound public attention at the fair. The USTC delegation hosted a news conference featuring their achievements especially in new bio-fertilizers and preparations which are directly linked with the agricultural development in the western areas.
