On Nov. 11th, Science Department vice-chairman Mr. Shao Liqin headed a delegation to USTC to inspect the research base construction work. Mr. Shao visited the Key Lab of Bond-Selective Chemistry, the Key Lab of Quantum Information and some labs of the USTC School of Life Sciences.
USTC president Zhu Qingshi reported to Mr. Shao the overall research situation and the plan for the Tenth Five-Year research base construction at USTC. USTC vice-president Hou Jianguo reported the idea of integrating and upgrading three CAS labs and one USTC lab at USTC. Vice-president Fan Weicheng chaired the report meeting. Present at the meeting were CAS academicians Prof. Wu Xiaoping and Prof. Shi Yunyu and persons in charge of relevant USTC departments. Vice-chairman Shao Liqin spoke favorably of the idea put forward by USTC vice-president Hou Jianguo and provided valuable guidance in this regard. During his stay at USTC, Mr Shao gave a talk on "Challenges for Chinese Scientific Workers after Accession into the WTO and the Significance of Originality" for USTC students and teachers.
