The hot claps rise in the USTC lecture hall, for there will be an illuminating report given by the president of USTC Sciences School, Academician Yang Guozhen. He walks up to the platform under everyone's expectant eyes. The report titled "Modern Physics Development-----Commemorating 2005 World Physics Year" is for college students who study in USTC Sciences School.


"Einstein publishes 5 papers when he was 26 years old in 1905. From that time to now, there are many significant achievements in modern physics world during 100 years." Academician Yang Guozhen leads the audience to the colorful physics world from the surface to its interior. First, he briefly introduces the academic achievements obtained by Einstein, and then highly appreciates the contributions Einstein does to the development of modern physics. Yang states that 5 papers written by Einstein found the theoretical basis to the modern physics. Referring to the role of the modern physics plays in the most advanced science, such as atom, semiconductor and laser science and technology; Academician Yang expresses his sense of proud to chose physics, research it and devote himself to physics.
Finally, Academician Yang encourages the students to work hard in the college period. What's more important is to breed independent thinking and judgment abilities.
