University Delegation Won All-round Champion in Radio Direction Goniometry

University Delegation Won All-round Champion in Radio Direction Goniometry


USTC delegate Jiang Xiao, a senior student in the Department of Modern Physics took away the all-round champion for men adult in the 2002 National Radio Direction Goniometry Tournament. The activity, cosponsored by the State Administration of Sport and the Ministry of Education, attracted totally 26 delegations to Haikou, capital city of Hainan province in mid-August. The tournament set up matches for men and women individuals and awarded the first sixth prize winners of each groups. Besides the all-round title of a 15 minutes and 37 seconds faster result than the second-prize winner, Jiangxiao also packed up the bronze medal in adult men's 80-meter wave band match and the fourth-prize in adult men's 2-meter wave band match. Ma Yanlin, a sophomore from the Department of Biology, and Qinmian, a sophomore from the Department of Thermal Science and Energy Engineering picked the fifth and sixth prize respectively in adult women's all-round match. Ma also won the sixth prize for adult women's 2-meter wave band match and was awarded the topnotch player prize. In addition to the achievement in matches, USTC delegation was also awarded good sportsmanship prize. Together with one gold and one bronze medal, as well as a fourth prize, a fifth prize and two sixth prizes--the largest number of prizes, the university delegation also recorded a bumper harvest in the cultural and ethical field.
