????On the afternoon of Sept. 28th, Party secretary of the School of Life Science of USTC, Mr. Wang Gengsheng, received an award from Party Secretary of Anhui Province, Mr. Wang Taihua, at Anhui Great Opera. The award was to honor the school as an advanced unit of Anhui Province. Present at the awards ceremony were provincial leaders Wang Taihua, Xu Zhonglin et al.
????The School of Life Science of USTC was founded in January 1998. Owing to the continuous efforts of all the staff and students, the school has now a team of about one hundred teachers including one academician of the CAS and 21 professors. Now the school has centers for doctors, post-doctors and the right to grant doctorates in first-class disciplines. The school has made a great number of research achievements in more than 60 key research projects which include some sub-projects of the State Project 973, the State Project 863, the National Natural Science Foundation, etc. and has contributed to the economic construction and scientific development of Anhui Province.
