On the afternoon of March 28th, Wan Xueyuan, deputy minister of Ministry of Personnel of China and director of the Foreign Expert Bureau, together with some other heads, inspected USTC.
USTC Party secretary Tang Honggao introduced the general situation and the features of USTC to the deputy minister and his entourage. USTC vice-president Hou Jianguo reported the situation about teaching reform, research achievements, discipline, faculty construction, and international exchange and cooperation. In addition, vice-president Hou reported the ideas and results of attracting high level intellectuals.
After having heard the report, deputy minister Wan Xueyuan commended USTC's fame and its achievements in teaching, research, and international exchange and cooperation. He also gave some advice on how to do better in attracting high level intellectuals. Minister Wan expressed that USTC has a good relationship with the Foreign Expert Bureau and that they would continue to support the construction and development of USTC. After the meeting, the guests visited the National Synchrotron Radiation Lab and the State Key Lab of Fire Sciences.
