National Natural Science Foundation Innovative Research Group Assessment Team Inspects Work at USTC

Headed by deputy director of the National Natural Science Foundation and CAS academician Prof. Zhu Zuoyan, the innovative research group assessment team of the National Natural Science Foundation came to conduct on-the-spot evaluation work on the three innovative research groups at USTC from December 4th to 6th.
The innovative research group project of the National Natural Science Foundation was launched in 2000 with the purpose of fostering active research groups in cutting-edge fields. The selected research groups should be of high academic level, outstanding in their research work and capable of innovative work. The financial assistance allocated to each of the selected innovation research groups is 1,200,00 RMB yuan every fiscal year for three years in succession. Three of the 20 selected research groups are from USTC. These groups are headed by Prof. Hou Jianguo, Prof. Guo Guangcan and Prof. Niu Liwen.
USTC leaders attached great importance to the on-the-spot assessment work. USTC Party secretary Tang Honggao and deputy secretary Jin Dasheng were present at the assessment meeting. On behalf of USTC, Party secretary Tang Honggao extended his warm welcome to the group and expressed his thanks for the support offered to USTC in the basic research work.
