USTC 2000-2001 Scholarships Awarding Ceremony was held on March 20th. President Zhu Qingshi, Vice-President Cheng Yi, CAS Academician HE Duohui, heads of some divisions and departments and the Zhang Zongzhi Scientific Prize representative--- Mr. Zhang Hong attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided by Mr. Zhu Canping, Director of the Division of Students' Affairs.
Vice-President Cheng Yi made the announcement that four professors like Prof. Chen Guoliang won the Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation Educational Scholarship for Teachers. 175 graduate students and undergraduate students were conferred such awards like Guo Moruo Scholarship, CAS Scholarship, Baosteel Group Corporation Scholarship, Legend Computer Scholarship.
President Zhu sent congratulations to the prize-winners in his speech and expressed his thankfulness to the teachers for their efforts of cultivating high-quality students. He also hoped that the students awarded be modesty, stick to honesty, try to consummate their personality and lay a sound foundation for further study. He looked forward to their achievement in study and research to earn honors for USTC and to contribute to the thriving of China.
Mr. Zhang Kai on behalf of the prize-winners expressed that they would regard the USTC Spirits as the source of impetus forever, shoulder the task of the thriving of USTC and China and strive for USTC's tomorrow.
