At the invitation of USTC president Zhu Qingshi, president of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU) Prof. Pan Zongguang visited USTC on Nov. 14th,, 2001. On the afternoon of 14th, president Zhu Qingshi conducted an interview with president Pan Zongguang and his secretary Ms. Sushao Limei. They exchanged their views on the inter-school cooperation and shared their insights on the development of their respective schools.
Accompanied by USTC vice-president Hou Jianguo, the guests visited the Lab of Bond-Selective Chemistry Lab and labs of Nano-Structure and Nano-Physics. Prof. Pang Zongguang commended the research fruits achieved by the staff over the last three years.
On the morning of 15th, USTC president Fan Weicheng accompanied the guests to the State Key Lab of Fire Science. The Space Lab Building there was built in collaboration with HKPU. Vice-president Fan Weicheng detailed the research progress made by the lab in recent years and the achievements obtained through cooperation with HKPU. President Pan Zongguang expressed his hearty congratulations and hope that inter-school cooperation would be further carried out in the field of fire science.
On the afternoon of 15th, at the invitation of the Chizhou Prefectural Government, president Pan Zongguang left for Chizhou in the company of USTC president Zhu Qingshi for a comprehensive investigation.
