USTC holds contract-conferring ceremony, appointing Prof. Luo Honhjie as chair of Materials Science and Engineering Department. USTC Party committee standing assistant secretary and vice president Xu Wu chairs the ceremony. USTC President Academician Zhu Qingshi confers the contract to Prof. Luo Hongjie. Vice president Academician Hou Jianguo, leaders of Chemistry and Materials Science Department and staff of Materials Science and Engineering Department attend the ceremony.

Prof. Luo Hongjie is born in November, 1956. He obtains the doctoral degree of Shanghai Silicate Institute under CAS in June, 1991. He works in Northwest Light Industry College from January, 1982 to March, 2002, successively serving as assistant professor, vice chair and then chair of Materials Science Department, and then works as president of Shanxi Science and Technology University from April, 2002 to August, 2004. From 2004 to now, Prof. Luo Hongjie takes position as the head of Shanghai Silicate Institute.

At the conferring ceremony, President Zhu Qingshi highly praises the Prof. Luo Hongjie and hopes he can regard USTC as a second work unit and make more achievements. Prof. Luo Hongjie warmly thanks President Zhu Qingshi and other leaders of USTC attending the ceremony and makes resolutions to do his best in the future work.
