The large-scale campus activity "Microsoft, Winning Together" carrying in the nationwide key universities formally starts in USTC on 3^rd, September.

 

This move is jointly put forward by Microsoft Asia Research, Microsoft Asia Engineering Institute and USTC. A batch of world-class experts and scholars, about fifteen charges from Microsoft come to Hefei. USTC officials and Information Science Technology College put highly attention to this activity.

 

USTC Party committee standing assistant secretary and vice president Xu Wu, the head of Information Science technology College, Prof. Huang Liusheng attend the inauguration. Vice chairman of Microsoft Key Laboratory, Prof. Yu Haineng presides over this activity.

 

At the inauguration, USTC Party committee standing assistant secretary and vice president Xu Wu delivers the ebullience speeches to welcome the Microsoft experts and represents for the USTC to invite Microsoft Asia Research and international well-known voice-processing expert Dr. Hong Xiaowen and the principals of voice-processing group under Microsoft Asia Research, Dr. Song Geping as visiting professors, and appoint the Prof. Xu Fengxiong, who bears the honorable name “the father of Cyano”, as USTC tutor of doctoral candidates. This move is believed to play an important role in fighting USTC and Microsoft Asia Research relations, promoting the academic exchanges, advancing disciplines construction and fostering young staff.

 

After the inauguration, assistant head of Microsoft Asia Research Hong Xiaowen and other five researchers exhibit the recent achievements. They individually introduce the research contents and latest achievements in different domains, including platform instrument, network multimedia, multimedia communication and core technology transformation. And then they carry the warm discussions with the students on relative technology problems.

 

During the activity, leaders concerned of Microsoft Asia Research, several USTC senior professors, young faculties and graduates carry out deep discussions on fostering young faculties and cooperatively cultivating graduates and achieve common opinions on many aspects. According to the nowadays intense profession competition, "Microsoft, winning together" presents "Profession Layout" which introduces the Microsoft Company culture. The most splendid speech is given by senior Prof. IEEE Fellow from US Princeton University. He analyses the roles playing by IQ, EQ and AQ in the way to success and emphasizes on the positive attitude to life. Finally he concludes the four steps to solve problems: face them, know them, solve them and leave them.

 

As to provide a better chance for students who are close to graduation to approach Microsoft, visiting researchers and project managers make use of the nights to do one-to-one communication with students on applications of Microsoft Asia Research and Microsoft Engineering Institute, "Tomorrow Star" Trainee Project. Chen Xuejin is one of ten students who visit "Future Home" and she reviews the conversation with Bill Gates. Prof. Wu Feng from Microsoft Asia Research highly praises USTC students who he consider with good basic information background and work hard, so USTC students own much development potential.
