To further promote the combination of education, research and commercialization, and the economic construction of Anhui Province, USTC signed an agreement with the Tongling Municipal Government on December 4, an important step taken to deepen the reform of the education system at USTC and also to contribute to the local economic construction.
The signing ceremony was chaired by USTC vice-president Prof. Fan Weicheng at USTC. Persons in charge from the Tongling Municipal Government and USTC, including Party secretary and mayor of the Tongling Municipal Government and Party secretary and president of USTC attended the ceremony. USTC president Zhu Qingshi and Mayor of the Tongling Municipal Government Liu Zhanping signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of each side and delivered their speeches. Party secretary of USTC Prof. Tang Honggao and Party Secretary of Tongling Chen Songlin also made their speeches at the ceremony.
In line with the agreement, both sides will endeavor to urge their subsidiaries to cooperate by collaboratively building up research institutes, engineering centers, laboratories etc. to develop high-tech products in the fields of electronics, chemical industry, new materials and cooper processing. The two sides will further build the USTC-Tongling Scientific and Technological Pioneering Park together. The two sides have decided to implement cooperation by holding annual meetings to exchange scientific and technological information, cultivating engineering masters in alliance and constructing bases for teaching and education and research stations for post-doctoral fellows. According to the agreement, USTC will utilize the available intellectual resources to provide solutions to the key technological problems, advice and other consultative services for the local enterprises in Tongling and the Tongling Municipal Government will set up prizes to award relevant teaching and research workers of USTC who will make outstanding contributions to the attraction of investment and introduction of intellectual resources.
Talks were held in the afternoon between researchers from USTC and representatives from enterprises in Tongling for the implementation of the cooperative agreement. | |
